Philadelphia Fashion Blogger’s Experience with Made-to-Measure Fashion Designer Victoria Wright

February 24, 2020

In my opinion, I feel the majority of garments made are to fit the average figure. Yes, I hear you, that makes sense, make things for the majority. However, for those of us who are not the average size, finding clothing that fits us correctly can be a challenge.

I will be the first to admit that finding clothes for my 5’11 frame is exceptionally challenging. And I can guarantee that the majority of my professional type garments are taking a trip to the tailor for a couple of tweaks as soon as I buy them…and that’s expensive. Lately, I’ve seen more and more custom clothing options for men but not many options for women, which is extremely frustrating. I was lucky enough to find a decent custom tailor, the types of garments were very limited and extremely expensive. Don’t lose hope ladies because guess what, I’ve come across an incredible designer who is taking orders with made-to-measure for the urban sophisticated woman!

I’m very excited to introduce you to a fashion designer located in Philadelphia who is taking made-to-measure for women by storm. From a young age, she knew she always wanted to be a fashion designer. Over the past couple of years, she noticed a void in the women’s market for well-tailored and fashion-forward professional clothing. After a ton of research, she found a massive gap in made-to-measure options for women and clearly she heard my cries. She took a leap of faith and is now Philadelphia’s first made-to-order brand just for women. Her sophisticated, tailored collection includes; women’s suits, dresses, pants, blouses, blazers, and skirts.

Now, let’s back up and discuss the details around made-to-measure. The best way I can describe made-to-measure is the fact it teeters between not entirely custom and something you cannot just purchase off the rack. It’s when a designer has a particular pre-existing pattern that can be modified to fit individuals of all shapes and sizes. Which means you’re not getting a fully customized garment, you’re receiving one that is tailored to your precise measurements. Check out Victoria Wright’s measuring process for more information.

My experience with Victoria has been fantastic. During my initial fitting for measurements, she walked me through her entire process as well as expectations. She took all my measurements, asked me questions about my own personal style and we reviewed her look book. After that, I choose a dress option, we finalized the details by discussing color options, the length of my dress, sleeves, and slit. I felt like a kid in a candy store because of the excitement of having professional clothes fit ME and not me fit the clothes.

When our session was over, I felt confident knowing I would have a well-tailored dress fit for my exact measurements. The price of each garment is reasonable. You’re not breaking the bank with fully customized clothes and or throwing money down the drain with clothes that either don’t fit right or only last a couple of wears. It’s all about the quality and fit.

When clothing fits your body type, you feel more confident and can take on any challenge thrown at you and, of course, in style. This is just the start of my made-to-measure wardrobe. I mean, who doesn’t want a fabulous style that is a perfect fit just for you!
