I am a firm believer that practice makes perfect, or, at least, as close to perfect as you can become. After a couple of days of using the UPRIGHT Go Trainer, I am well on my way to achieving better posture.
Activating the UPRIGHT Go Trainer (If you missed my Instagram stories on my first day of starting my UPRIGHT Go trainer session, you can click here to view them under my Instagram highlights).
- Once the UPRIGHT Go device has arrived, take it out of the box and charge it. Sometimes it comes fully charged, mine needed a little more charge.
- As it is charging, download the app (iOS or Android) and create your profile.
- Once charged, place in between your shoulders and turn the device on (you should feel a small vibration).
- Open the app and collaborate your UPRIGHT by connecting the device to the app.
- Setup your settings for your reminders, notifications, and alters (vibrations).
- Activate your session. This is one of my favorite parts of the program as it reminds you to practice perfect posture every day. It starts off a few minutes a day and gradually goes up in time and number of sessions.
- Now you have the option to place the device on tracking or training mode. If you use tracking, the device will drain faster than setting it on training mode to alert you when you slouch.
- Since I take the device off (more details on why below) during my time of use, I add reminders to my calendar (which you can do through the app) that way I was always reminded, and it would keep me on track to achieving my posture goals.
I love a great challenge and improving my posture was a big one. I wanted to make sure the device didn’t catch me slouching too long as that was at the forefront of my mind. I know I’m not perfect, but I was terrified to see what the results might indicate on my posture, and I wasn’t about to lose this battle. I mean a win/win really.
The vibration alert got me every time I would start to slouch, which was a blessing because I would instantly revert back to my ideal, upright posture position. It was FANTASTIC! I felt as if I had someone standing next to me pushing me regularly to stay upright. Talk about a great way to achieve your goal! It reminds me of someone who is tracking what they eat – in most cases; you aren’t going to eat something that you wouldn’t want to write down, right? Same holds true here. I didn’t want my results to show slouching (for at least an extended period of time).
The first day had to be the hardest. Since I am notorious for slouching throughout the day, I was very sore. But a good sore. The soreness indicated to me that clearly, I wasn’t upright ever and with soreness, comes the path to success. I kept the UPRIGHT Go device on during the day and only when I was indoors. Since I live in Philadelphia, humidity is a daily battle, and the device would actually slide off my back if I were wearing it outdoors. After researching if this was a defect, I found out that the adhesives for the device are not sweat proof. However, with the constant reminder during the day, I was training my brain to remind myself to stand up straight whenever I wasn’t wearing the device.
I wouldn’t miss a training session, and every day I would make sure I was really focusing on accomplishing my posture sessions by focusing on my upper back muscles and how they felt. Note: each session does increase by a length of time each day. And when I was feeling confident, I would switch the device to tracking mode to see how far my training has improved and how close I was to achieving my goal. Some days I would be successful, others not so much. It made me think about the times that I would slouch so if I weren’t relying on the UPRIGHT Go trainer, I would auto-correct myself. Not only did I feel I was getting stronger in my upper back, but I could tell my posture was improving over time. The app is a wealth of knowledge, providing information in real time on your progress.
Overall, my experience with the UPRIGHT Go trainer was extraordinary. I could tell every day that I was getting better with my posture. Even when I wasn’t wearing the device itself, I am self-consciously reminding myself to stand up straight as soon as I start to slouch. I notice quicker when I begin to slouch and quickly adjust. Growth is huge for me, and I will continue to use it – again practice makes perfect.

Is the device noticeable when you are wearing it?
This, of course, depends on the type of shirt you wear. If you wear a shirt that is over the device, it is not noticeable. If you have a backless shirt – it is.
What do the lights indicate on the device?
Solid red means charging correctly
Blinking red means low battery
Green means fully charged
I have long hair; will my hair get caught on the device?
I personally didn’t have a problem with my hair getting caught. When you are putting the device on, I recommend putting your hair up in a high ponytail, so the initial adhesive doesn’t grab your hair. Same goes for when you are taking it off.
Can I work out with the UPRIGHT trainer?
I feel the adhesive doesn’t hold up to sweat (as mine would fall off walking around in the humidity). I don’t think their adhesive is sweat proof either. Maybe they will invent something to prevent the fall off from sweat.
How long does each adhesive last?
I was able to get almost nine uses. The website recommends 5-10 uses per adhesive.
Can I purchase more adhesives?
Yes, you can order through the app or on their website.
What is the difference between tracking and training?
When you activate the training mode, the device will vibrate every time you slouch (look to your settings for details). When you enable tracking mode, there is no vibration when you slouch. Tracking will provide you with further information on how often you slouch or are upright. I turned tracking mode on when I was working and or sitting for a significant amount of time. I would switch to training when I was doing activities that require me to move and or pick up things. I do not recommend activating tracking mode when you have to do activities where you bend over.
Are there different vibrations available?
Yes, and you can find these details in your settings within the app. I like the “knock/knock” vibration the most.
How can I switch between modes?
You can either switch modes within the app or hold down the device button, and it will switch as well (be sure to check the mobile app to ensure it changed correctly the first couple of times you do it).
How long is the battery life?
Battery life varies depending on which mode you are in. I would charge my device every night to ensure it wouldn’t lose charge when I needed to track/train myself.
What comes with my initial UPRIGHT Go purchase?
The box will include the UPRIGHT Go device, travel case, charging cable, five adhesives, adhesive removal pads and an informative user manual.
