Polished, sophisticated, modern chic, classy, elegant, stylish, well dressed and fashionable! These words come to my mind when I put on my absolute must-have wardrobe staple. Let’s face it, we have the go-to items that we cannot live without and mine happens to be a pencil skirt. I personally feel my legs are my best asset and nothing flatters them more than a pencil skirt. Wearing pencil skirts gives you a slender look (and feel) because of the narrow fit.
More often than not, you will find me in a pencil skirt. Why? Because I feel unstoppable and I truly feel like I can conquer the world while wearing one. And if you felt that way, wouldn’t you continue to dominate that look?
A well fitted, fabulous pencil skirt is a classic essential for any women’s wardrobe. It keeps your look very polished and of course modern chic! When you have a vital wardrobe piece like a pencil skirt, there are so many looks you can master without putting too much effort into it.
I have found my fair share of pencil skirts; some that are a must and some that have totally missed the mark. When you find your favorites, I highly recommend buying two of them. Because nothing is worse than when you find a perfect pencil skirt that makes you look amazing to only find out that line has been discontinued OR the brand has closed. I’ve learned this tragic lesson and won’t allow it to happen again!
Here are some of my favorite go-to pencil skirts from Ann Taylor (that are currently for purchase):
Ponte Pencil Skirt
Very stretchy but comfortable. The elasticized waistband helps hide any imperfections. Travels extremely well as wrinkles come out easily. Right now, black, olive depths and heather grey are available online but coming in the near future – navy, and a couple of spring colors will be available. I went a size down as it is very stretchy.
Seasonless Stretch Pencil Skirt
A skirt I wish would be available in every color! This pencil skirt is by far my favorite. As the title states, a seasonless skirt and that holds true. I wear this during all seasons and the modern sleek slit adds extra detail to any outfit. I feel very classy and professional when I wear this skirt. Super slimming and I recommend going down one size.
Seasonless Stretch Seamed Pencil Skirt
Another form-fitting, classic skirt that I wear all year round. The fabric is very comfortable, and the cut is tailored perfectly for my body type. The skirt doesn’t wrinkle easily and is perfect with any top. It runs true to size and depending on the season, will be available in different colors. Keep a lookout as when grey and navy hit, you are going to want to purchase!
Sharkskin Pencil Skirt
A true wrinkle-free skirt. I can wear this skirt all day long and still look flawless. The fit is super flattering and romantic. I am always presentation-ready with this staple pencil skirt! Runs true to size.
Pencil skirts are great for multipurpose wear, and I love to play around with different looks. Many outfits can be worn day to night with a switch of a shoe and the same can go for blouses. I love how Ann Taylor is turning boring button downs into elegant, sophisticated, classy tops for any occasion.
Here of my top blouses right now at Ann Taylor:
Bouquet Ruffled Button Down Blouse
Yes, yes, and YES! By far my favorite blouse from Ann Taylor. The detailed bouquet, ruffles, and lace cutouts are very elegant. I love the modern update to the button closure on the sleeve. Blouse runs true to size and can be worn tucked in or out.
The scarlet lily color reminds me of love and is perfect for the fall or month of February. The ruffle stand collar adds a subtle elegance with the back-keyhole detail. The sleeves have a smocked cuff and if you have long arms like I do, they are quite short. However, I push them up to more of a three-quarter sleeved top to make the sleeve more of a blouse look. This top comes in two colors and runs larger. I recommend going down one size.
Ann Taylor never disappoints my closet and I cannot wait to see what their spring 2018 line brings. Move along winter and bring on spring!
