Stylish Work Bags

January 22, 2018

Ladies, let’s face it, we never work a normal 9 to 5. We work all day and night to ensure our tasks are complete. And the “normal” 9 to 5 is not limited to just our day jobs. We have hobbies, families, yoga and gym time, and let’s not forget about retail therapy. We are multi-taskers, always on the go and we need a bag to keep up with our busy lifestyle! Not only does our bag need to keep up with us but it needs to hold all the items we carry without having to lug around multiple bags. But that begs the question: Is there a durable, chic work bag that fits our active and busy lifestyles?

Like you, I have certain needs when it comes to the perfect bag. I’ve had my fair share of work bags that haven’t lived up to the craziness of my life. From durability, size, style and of course being functional, it takes time to find those perfect bags. You read that right; I said bags, not bag. But let’s get to the point, we must have bags that fit into our lives.

When I shop for bags, I’m thinking about:

  • What essentials are needed and can they fit into this bag?
  • Laptop or no laptop?
  • Does it fit my wardrobe?
  • Professional or fun?
  • Is it durable?
  • What is the cost per use?

After I work through my list and contemplate my final choices, I am ready to purchase.

Here’s a list of my current favorite stylish work bags.

Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Top Zip Multifunction Tote

Tons of space with multiple compartments to keep me very organized. An added plus is that it has its own compartment for my oversized laptop. This bag is useful when I need to carry around everything. When I travel, I’ll pack a smaller cross body so when I don’t need my laptop, I can grab my smaller bag without having to lug everything around. Very stylish and depending on the season, it comes in multiple colors (the one I have is a sparkly silver).

Tory Burch Block-T Tote

A fabulous, elegant, durable bag that can hold a ton of stuff. It’s a great travel bag for work or play. There is an attached multiple purpose pouch which is great for makeup or other essentials. Comes in multiple colors and will last you all day.

Lauren Ralph Lauren Newbury Double Zip Satchel

You had me a double zip! This bag is perfect when it comes to keeping my items organized. I put my smaller laptop in one compartment and my files in the other AND it doesn’t interfere with my other essentials. A durable bag that really meets my needs. This bag comes in multiple colors and two sizes as well.

TUMI Nita Commuter Briefcase

For those ladies who are needing more of a briefcase, this one is perfect! Very slim but has enough space for your essentials and will keep them protected. It wears very well and easy to travel with. Not a bag to hold EVERYTHING but a high-quality bag for those important meetings.  Comes in two colors and is currently on sale.

Rebecca Minkoff Always on Regan Leather Tote

Feel free to add a pop of color to your work bag. You don’t always have to go with the classic blue, black and or gray. I always have a bag in my closet with a pop of color to brighten any day. One example would be this bag. It has a modern silhouette with polished stud hardware. The multiple pockets along with a padded laptop sleeve and a zipper keep items from falling, which is always a good thing.

The good news is there are millions of bags out there to choose from. My advice is to figure out what works best for you and do your research. You don’t have to be “boring” with your bag but be sure to keep it professional and stylish. As I mentioned in many of my blogs, invest in at least one quality bag. Trust me, it is worth the money and even though it seems expensive now, it will pay off in the long run. Cheaper bags fall apart fast and if you don’t spend the money now on a quality bag, you will end up spending WAY more on many cheaper bags. Treat yourself to a nice bag, you deserve it!
